The Center for Neurofibromatosis and Allied Disorders comprises two of the oldest and largest NF clinical programs in the U.S., at the Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB) and at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where NF-specific clinics were first begun in the early 1980’s.
The CHB NF Program is directed by Dr. Mira Irons within the Division of Genetics and provides for initial diagnosis, follow-up visits, and specialty referral (ophthalmology, orthopaedics, neurology, radiology, general surgery, neurosurgery, and neuro-oncology), if necessary, along with genetic counseling, support and education.
The MGH NF Clinic, directed by Dr. Scott Plotkin, is affiliated with the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery as part of the MGH Brain Tumor Center and provides comprehensive care for adults and children who have been diagnosed with, or are at risk for, various forms of neurofibromatosis (NF), including NF1, NF2 and schwannomatosis.
The CNfAD is also affiliated with the Adult Genetics Clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Center for Neuro-Oncology.
